Privacy policy
Noriba doesn't collect your data
The short version. Noriba has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We don't collect, sell or share personal data. Your favorites stay on your iPhone. On the App Store this appears as "Data Not Collected".
Who we are
Noriba is made by Denis Ian Mapa, an independent developer ("we", "us"). It isn't affiliated with Sound Transit or any transit agency. Questions about privacy: support@noriba.dev.
What stays on your iPhone
Noriba keeps a few things on your device so it works the way you left it. We never receive them.
- Favorite stations and simple settings, such as whether you've seen the welcome screen.
- The last service-alert update it downloaded, so service status still shows when you're offline. This copy is excluded from iCloud and device backups.
Deleting the app deletes all of this. Your favorites and settings may also be part of your own iPhone backups, which Apple handles.
Connections the app makes
| What | When | What it reveals |
|---|---|---|
| Sound Transit's public service-alerts feed, hosted on Amazon Web Services | When you open the app, and about once a minute while it's open | Like any web request, your IP address and basic device information reach the server. The request contains nothing from your account or the app, because there's no account. The feed's operators handle their logs under their own policies. |
| Apple Maps | When you use the Region view | Map tiles for the area on screen, under Apple's privacy policy. |
| Open in Maps | Only when you tap it | Hands the station's name and location to Apple Maps. |
| Links | Only when you tap one | Opens the page in your browser. |
Timetables, station information and maps are built into the app and work offline.
Things we don't do
- We don't ask for or use your location.
- We don't use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and we don't track you across apps or websites.
- We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
Diagnostics from Apple
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give us aggregated usage statistics and crash reports. They don't identify you, and you can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Children
Noriba is a general-audience transit app, not directed at children under 13. We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices and rights
Because we don't hold personal data about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct, delete or export. You stay in control of what's on your device: remove favorites in the app, or delete the app to remove everything. Depending on where you live (for example California, Washington or the European Union), you may have rights over personal data; if you'd like to exercise them or have a question, email support@noriba.dev.
This website
This site uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads nothing from other websites; even its font is served from here. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Future features
We may add features that need data, such as push notifications about service changes. If we do, we'll update this policy before the feature ships, explain exactly what's involved, and ask your permission in the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
