Accessibility statement
Noriba should work for every rider, whatever the way they use their iPhone. We design to Apple's accessibility guidelines for the app, and to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA for this website.
What the app supports
| Feature | How Noriba supports it |
|---|---|
| VoiceOver | Every station reads the same way, for example "Westlake, 1 Line and 2 Line, codes 1-50 and 2-50, transfers: monorail, streetcar". The station list and search reach every station. With VoiceOver on, the Trains view becomes a list of each station and the trains heading for it. The drawn maps describe the disruptions shown on them. |
| Larger Text | Text follows your text-size setting up to the largest accessibility sizes. At those sizes, wide layouts become lists, and alert text is never cut off. |
| Dark Interface | A full dark theme ("night platform") and a light theme, following your iPhone's appearance. |
| Differentiate Without Color Alone | Lines always carry their code (1, 2, T), statuses carry an icon and a word, and disrupted track is hatched as well as coloured. |
| Sufficient Contrast | Text and icons meet at least 4.5:1 contrast in both themes. |
| Reduced Motion | Map, sheet and train animations are turned off when Reduce Motion is on. |
| Touch targets | Buttons and map stations have touch areas of at least 44 × 44 points. |
How we test
- Every change runs Apple's automated accessibility audit on every screen of the app: contrast, touch areas, labels, Dynamic Type and clipped text. It also checks how VoiceOver reads stations.
- We check screens by hand with VoiceOver and at the largest text size, in light and dark mode, on a real iPhone.
Known limitations
- The schematic and region maps are drawn pictures, so VoiceOver reads each as one element with a summary. Use search, the station list or the Lines tab to reach individual stations.
- Voice Control hasn't been fully tested yet. We aren't claiming support for it until it has been.
- The region map is provided by Apple Maps, and its accessibility follows Apple's.
This website
These pages use plain HTML with headings, landmarks and a skip link. They work without JavaScript, zoom to 400%, follow your light or dark setting, and keep visible focus outlines for keyboard users.
Tell us about a barrier
If something in Noriba or on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, please email support@noriba.dev. Tell us what you were trying to do, and, if you're comfortable, which assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within 5 business days. We can also send the information on these pages in another format on request.
